Eric Klinker is President & CEO at BitTorrent Inc., a San Francisco-based technology company focused on creating distributed solutions for Internet applications. As CEO, Klinker is responsible for an ecosystem of software, devices and protocols that moves between 15% and 30% of the word’s Internet traffic on a daily basis, and has more than 170 million monthly users worldwide.

Eric Klinker is coming to Sofia for the WEBIT.FESTIVAL, where some of world's top enterprise leaders, Europe's top policy makers and the hottest startups and founders will give a talk. In a special interview for PREMIUM Lifestyle we talk about internet neutrality, the problem that Eric’s business poses for the music and film industries… and why that’s in fact no problem at all, but a solution. This is PART 1 of the interview and for PART 2 you can click here.
What’s the focus of your talk during the WebitFestival?
I will be talking about the future of the Internet as we move into the exciting new era of many connected devices. We face a dual threat of sorts. The Internet of Things is coming, but perhaps the greater concern is the increasing power granted to these end points through Moore's Law. An exponential expansion in capability combined with an exponential expansion in numbers means the architectures and protocols that helped the Internet scale to this point will no longer work going forward.

We need a new way of thinking, which is really an old way of thinking as we return to the first principles of the early Internet in search of solutions to these problems.
You’re an advocate for the idea of net neutrality. How do you see it working out and why do you believe in it?
Few can argue against the spirit of network neutrality and all the positive benefits resulting from these principles. The Internet could not have evolved
